From a traditional elephant camp to an ethical sanctuary — a journey of compassion.

The Founder
At just 22 years old, New made a decision that would change everything. After the passing of his father — who ran a traditional elephant camp — New chose a different path.
With the mentorship of Lek Chailert and the support of the Save Elephant Foundation, he committed to transforming the family camp into a sanctuary built on compassion.
Today, New lives alongside the elephants, overseeing their daily care and proving that ethical tourism can sustain both communities and wildlife.
Visit Our SanctuaryOur Mission
We protect and rehabilitate elephants, giving them space to live naturally across 22,400 sqm of sanctuary.
No riding, no shows, no hooks. Every interaction is on the elephant's terms.
We employ 16 local mahouts. Ethical tourism creates sustainable livelihoods.
Our Journey
Like many camps in Chiang Mai, our elephants carried tourists and performed in shows.
Without tourists, elephants experienced true freedom — roaming open fields and foraging naturally.
Chatchai "New" committed to never going back, with support from Lek Chailert and Save Elephant Foundation.
16 elephants roam freely across 22,400 sqm. Over 452 five-star reviews prove ethical experiences touch hearts.
Every visitor helps sustain our mission to keep elephants free.
